Private Equity Associate
An established mid-market private equity investor is seeking an Associate to join its Investment Team in Munich.
The firm partners with high-quality businesses with strong market positions and sustainable growth potential, providing capital for expansion, strategic development and ownership succession. Its investment activity spans sectors including industrial technology, business services, healthcare, software and IT, as well as energy and environmental technology.
The platform combines an experienced investment team with dedicated portfolio specialists, allowing investment professionals to remain closely involved beyond transaction execution. For an Associate, this creates exposure not only to evaluating and completing investments, but also to understanding how businesses develop throughout the ownership period.
You will join a collaborative and entrepreneurial investment environment where Associates are expected to take meaningful ownership of transactions, develop independent investment judgement and interact directly with senior colleagues, management teams and external advisors.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate new investment opportunities, including business models, markets, competitive positioning and potential value creation opportunities
- Build and review financial models, valuation analyses and investment returns cases to support investment decisions
- Take an active role across transaction execution, including due diligence, financing, structuring and preparation of investment committee materials
- Work closely with management teams, advisors and senior investment professionals throughout live transactions
- Support existing portfolio companies on strategic initiatives, acquisitions and other value creation opportunities
Requirements
- Approximately 2–5 years of relevant experience in private equity, investment banking, M&A, strategy consulting or another transaction-focused environment
- Strong financial modelling, valuation and analytical capabilities combined with a solid understanding of transaction mechanics
- Demonstrated ability to assess businesses commercially rather than relying solely on financial analysis
- Strong academic background in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering or another quantitatively rigorous discipline
- Professional fluency in both German and English, with strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with senior stakeholders
